ORDINANCE NO. 1242
AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF
TEXAS AVENUE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
WHEREAS, the City Counc il of the City of La Porte has
been requested by the record owners of all of the property
abutting the hereinafter described portion of Texas Avenue,
in the City of La Porte, to vacate, abandon, and permanently
close that portion of Texas Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte has
determined, and does hereby find, determine and declare that

the hereinafter described portion of Texas Avenue is not suita-
ble, needed, or beneficial to the public as a public road or
street, and that the closing of the hereinafter described
portion of Texas Avenue is for the protection of the publ ic
and for the public interest and benefit, and that the hereinafter
described portion of said Texas Avenue should be vacated,
abandoned, and permanently closed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. Under and by virtue of the power granted to

the City of La Porte under its Home Rule Charter and Chap. 13,
Title 28, Art. 1175, of the Revised Civil Statues of the State
of Texas, 1925, the hereinafter described portion of Texas
Avenue is hereby permanently vacated, abandoned, and closed by
the City of La Porte, to-wit:
That portion of Texas Avenue between the
south right-of-way line of South "K" Street
and the north right-of-way line of South "L"
Street, and lying and being situated between
Blocks Eleven Hundred Twenty (1120) and
Eleven Hundred Twenty-two (1122), TOWN OF
OF LA PORTE, Harris County, Texas;
SUBJECT TO:

The City of La Porte expressly retains a
drainage easement, 16 feet wide, across
that portion of Texas Avenue described by
metes and bounds on Exhibit "A" attached
hereto, incorporated by reference herein,
and made a part hereof for all purposes.

Section 2. The City Council officially finds, deter-
mines, recites and declares that a sufficient written notice
of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the
City Council was posted at a place convenient to the public
at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law
preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law,
Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated ~ and
that this meeting has been open to the public as required by
law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject
matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally
acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and
confirms such written notice and the contents and posting
thereof.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and approval.

BEING a drainage. easement 16 feet i'n wi'dth, and being more particularly described
by metes' and bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at the northwest corner of block 1120 of the Town of La Porte, said
point being in the south right-of-way line of IIKII Street;
THENCE West with the south right-of-way line of IIKII Street a distance of 60 feet
to the northeast corner of Block 1122 of the Town of La Porte;
THENCE continuing West with the south right-of-way line of IIKII Street and the
north line of Block 1122 a distance of 56 feet;
THENCE South over and across Block 1122 a distance of 400 feet to the
north line of IILII Street;

THENCE East with the north right-of-way line of IILII Street and the south line
of Block 1122 a distance of 16 feet;
THENCE North a distance of 384 feet;
THENCE East a distance of 40 feet to the east line of Block 1122;
THENCE East a distance of 60 feet to the west line of Block 1120;
THENCE North with the west line of Block 1120 a distance of 16 feet
to the POINT OF BEGINNING, enclosing an area of 8,000 square feet.
