ORDINANCE NO. 1192 AN ORDINANCE HELD IN THE ELECTION OF A COMMISSIONER, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE REGULAR CITY OF LA PORTE ON APRIL 5, 1980, CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 2; A CITY POSITION 4; AND A MAYOR. ELECTION FOR THE WHEREAS, there was held in the City of La Porte, on the 5th day of April, 1980, an election for the purpose of elect- ing a City Commissioner, Position 2; a City Commissioner, Position 4; and a Mayor; each to serve for a two-year term: and WHEREAS, there were cast at said election for the follow- ing listed persons the number of votes opposite their respect- e ive names: MAYOR: J. J. Meza 707 361 Jimmie R. Spradling Virginia Cline 328 CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 2: Issac J. Kibodeaux 941 CITY COMMISSIONER, POSITION 4: Charles M. Leckbee 418 Tom C. Simons 827 as shown in the official election returns heretofore delivered e by the Election Judge and officials to the Mayor and City Com- missioners of the City of La Porte and submitted to the City Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: Section I. That said election was duly called and notice thereof given in accordance with law; that said election was held in the manner required by law; that due returns of said election have been made by the proper officers; that said re- e turns have been canvassed by the City Commission of the City of La porte; that a total of 1,480 persons voted at said election, including persons voting on the regular voting machines, and on . . e Ordinance No. 1192 , Page 2. the absentee voting machine. Section 2. That said election has resulted in the election of the following named person as City Commissioner, Position 2, to-wit:: ISSAC J. KIBODEAUX Section 3. That said election has resulted in the election of the following named person as City Commissioner, Position 4, to-wit: 4It TOM C. SIMONS Section 4. That said election has resulted in the election of the following named person as Mayor, to-wit: J. J. MEZA e Section 5. The City Commission officially finds, deter- mines, recites and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Commission was posted at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Commission further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. Section 3.
