ORDINANCE NO.
1195
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 9 OF CITY OF LA PORTE ORDINANCE
NO. 1187; SETTING THE DATE AND TIME FOR CONSUMMATION OF THE
CONSOLIDATION OF THE CITY OF LOMAX WITH THE CITY OF LA PORTE;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. Section 9 of City of La Porte Ord inance No.
1187, passed and approved February 20, 1980, is hereby repealed.
Section 2. The Mayors of the cities of Lomax and La Porte
shall certify to the Secretary of State, authenticated copies

showing the approval of the qualified voters of the consolidation
of the two cities. The consolidation of the City of Lomax with
the City of La Porte shall thereupon be held to be consummated
at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, the
28th day of
April
, 1980.
Section 3. The City Commission officially finds, deter-
mines, recites and declares that a sufficient written notice
of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the
City Commission was posted at a place convenient to the public
at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law
preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law,
-
Article 6252-17, Texas Revised Civil Statutes Annotated; and
that this meeting has been open to the public as required by
law at all times during which this ordinance and the subject
matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally
acted upon.
The City Commission further ratifies, approves
and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting
thereof.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be effective immediately
upon its passage and approval.
