<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />1143 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE PORTION OF <br />SOUTH SEVENTEENTH (17TH) STREET LYING WITHIN THE AREA BOUNDED <br />BY WEST "C" STREET AND WEST "0" STREET, AND BETWEEN BLOCK SEVEN <br />HUNDRED EIGHTY-SEVEN (787) AND BLOCK SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-EIGHT <br />(788), IN THE TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte has <br /> <br />been requested by the record owners of all of the property <br />abutting South seventeenth (17th) Street bounded by West "C" <br /> <br />Street and West "0" Street, and between Block Seven Hundred <br /> <br />Eighty-seven (787) and Block Seven Hundred Eighty-eight (788), <br /> <br />in the Town of La Porte, Harris County, Texas, to vacate, aban- <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />don, and permanently close that portion of South Seventeenth <br /> <br />(17) Street; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of La Porte has <br /> <br />determined, and does hereby find, determine and declare that <br /> <br />the hereinafter described portion of South Seventeenth (17th) <br /> <br />Street is not suitable, needed, or beneficial to the public as <br /> <br />a public road or street, and that the closing of the hereinafter <br /> <br />described portion of South Seventeenth (17th) Street is for <br /> <br />the protection of the public and for the public interest and <br /> <br />benefit, and that the hereinafter described portion of said <br /> <br />'e <br /> <br />South Seventeenth (17th) Street should be vacated, abandoned, <br /> <br />and permanently closed; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. Under and by virtue of the power granted to <br /> <br />the City of La Porte under its Home Rule Charter and Chap. 13, <br />Title 28, Art. 1175, of the Revised Civil Statues of the State <br /> <br />of Texas, 1925, all of that portion of South Seventeenth (17th) <br /> <br />Street lying and being situated between West "C" Street and <br /> <br />West "0" Street and between Blocks Seven Hundred Eighty-seven <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />(787) and Seven Hundred Eighty-eight (788), in the Town of <br />
