AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE RESULTS
HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON
ELECTION OF A CITY COMMISSIONER,
COMMISSIONER, POSITION 3.
OF THE REGULAR ELECTION
APRIL 7, 1979, FOR THE
POSITION 1; AND A CITY
WHEREAS, there was held in the Ci ty of La Porte, on the
7th day of April, 1979, an election for the purpose of e1ect-
ing a City Commissioner, position 1; and a City Commissioner,
position 3; each to serve for a two-year term; and
WHEREAS, there were cast at said election for the fo110w-
ing listed persons the number of votes opposite their respect-
ive names:

as shown in the official election returns heretofore delivered
by the Election Judge and officials to the Mayor and City Com-
missioners of the City of La Porte and submitted to the City
Commission.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF LA PORTE:
Section 1. That said election was duly called and notice
thereof given in accordance with law; that said election was
held in the manner required by law; that due returns of said
election have been made by the proper officers; that said
returns have been canvassed by the City Commission of the
Ci ty of La Porte; that a total of

persons voted at
said election, including persons voting on the regular voting
machines, and on the absentee voting machine; that said e1ec-
tion has resulted in the election of the following named
tit person as City Commissioner, Position 1, to-wit:

Section 2. The City Commission of the City of La Porte
hereby finds, determines and declares that no candidate for
City Commissioner, Position 3, received a majority of all
votes cast for all the candidates for each of said offices.
Accordingly, pursuant to Section 12 of the Home Rule Charter
of the City of La Porte, a run-off election shall be held on
Saturday, April 28, 1979, at which said election the two can-
didates receiving. the highest number of votes for City Com-
missioner, Position 3, shall be voted for again.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and approval, and it is so
Ordered.
PASSED AND APPROVED, this the 11th day of April, 1979.
