RESOLUTION NO. 1'~
WHEREAS, the City of La Porte is situated between the
Harris County Navigation District's Houston ship channel and
Bayport ship channel; and
WHEREAS, many local and national industrial companies
have constructed and are presently operating substantial manu-
facturing facilities within and near the City of La Porte; and
WHEREAS, the. location of these manufacturing facilities
in and near the City of La Porte has provided employment oppor-
tunities for its citizens, and has otherwise materially contributed
to the economic well-being of the City of La Porte; and
~mEREAS, the management and employees of the various
industrial concerns in the La Porte area have been active in the
civic, cultural, educational, and religious life of the City, and
have helped to make the City of La Porte a better place in which
to live; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commissioners of the City
of La Porte deem it appropriate to recognize the many contributions
of area industrial concerns to the betterment of La Porte;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE:
That the month of November, 1965, be, and it is hereby
. proclaimed as IILA PORTE INDUSTRY APPRECIATION MONTHII, in recogni-
tion of the many benefits derived by the City of La Porte and its
residents, by reason of the location and operation of the several
.
industrial concerns in the La Porte area~ and the economic and
other benefits which the City of La Porte and its residents derive
from said industries.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City
Commissioners of the City of La Porte go on record as encouraging
and supporting the operation and future expansion of existing
industrial concerns, and as encouraging the location and construc-
tion of additional industrial concerns in the City of La Porte.
