<br />, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1503 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A GROSS RECEIPTS TAX ON THE CONDUCT OF BINGO <br />GAMES WITHIN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, <br />TEXAS, that: <br />Section 1. There is hereby levied and imposed a gross <br />receipts tax on every bingo game conducted within the City of La <br />Porte, located in the justice precincts of the City in Harris <br />County, which County has voted to legalize bingo. The tax shall <br />be two (2S) percent of gross receipts on the conduct of bingo <br />games, unless such amount shall be reduced by Section 3(d)(2) <br />Bingo Enabling Act, in which case the tax shall be one (1S) <br />percent of gross receipts on the conduct of all bingo games. <br />Section 2. The provisions of Vernon's Annotated Civil <br />Statutes Article 179d as now written or hereafter amended are <br />incorporated herein by reference and made a part hereof. <br />Section ,. The revenue controller of the City of La Porte <br />shall have the duty of collecting and receiving the gross receipts <br />tax. The proceeds of this tax shall be paid into the General <br />Operating Fund of the City of La Porte. <br />Section 4. The revenue collector is instructed to forward to <br />the Comptroller of Public Accounts of the State of Texas a <br />certified copy of this Ordinance. <br />Section S. The City Council officially finds, determines, <br />recites and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, <br />hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was <br />posted at a place convenient .to the public at the City Hall of the <br />City for the time required by law preceding this meeting, as <br />required by the Open Meetings Law, Article 6252-17, Texas Revised <br />Civil Statutes Annotated; and that this meeting has been open to <br />the public as required by law at all times during which this <br />ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, <br />considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further <br />ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the <br />contents and posting thereof. <br />Section 6.
