' 32-64 <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />A Resolution of the Mayor and City Commission of the City of <br />La Porte, Texas, issued in recognition of outstanding civic work and <br />accomplishments on the part of <br />GASTON JAMES "GUS" GROOS <br />WHEREAS, at a general meeting of the citizens of La Porte, <br />Texas, held on February 24, 1964, it was decided that since the present <br />year of 1964 was the 7511I year since the founding of La Porte, that it <br />would be fitting and proper to ce1eb~ate it's 7511I birthday by having a <br />DIAMOND JUBILEE from May 1711I through the 2411I, and <br />WHEREAS, it was realized by the citizens that the success of <br />this celebration would necessitate wholehearted community-wide effort, <br />involving the participation of all individuals, and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. GASTON JAMES "GUS" GROOS (better known as "GUS" <br />GROOS) was unanimously elected to be the General Chairman; to lead, <br />supervise, guide, and otherwise co-ordinate the many and varied acti vi ties <br />connected with the celebration, and <br />WHEREAS, the celebration was a success in that citizens were <br />uni ted in accomplishing a common goal; THEREFORE <br />BE IT RESOLVED <br />By the City Commission of the City of La Porte, Texas, that <br />Mr. "GUS" GROOS be commended for his civic interest and his devotion to <br />the welfare of La Porte and the Bayshore area, and for his untiring <br />efforts in the co-ordination of the various celebration activities which <br /> <br />resulted in the success of the DIAMOND JUBILEE - the celebration of <br />La Porte's 75tb birthday. It is also recognized that it's success must <br />also be attributed to the wholehearted cooperation and assistance of <br />many citizens who should be, and are hereby, commended. <br />IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that GASTON JAMES "GUS" GROOS be given <br />a Certificate of Appreciation, signed by the Mayor and the City Clerk <br />of the City of La.
