The meeting was called to order by Mayor Cline at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, <br />Councilpersons Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren, Malone, <br />Longley, Matuszak and Graves <br />Members of the City Council Absent: None <br />Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Owen, Assis- <br />tant City Attorney Armstrong, City Secretary Waters, Director <br />of Administrative Services Herrera, Graduate Engineer Joerns, <br />Fire Chief Sease <br />Others Present: Dick Bell, Bayshore Sun; Frieda Beaty, Bay- <br />town Sun; Ellen Stover, La Porte Broadcaster; Dave Corbin, <br />• Busch, Hutchison & Associates. There were 15 interested <br />citizens present. <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Skelton <br />3. A motion was made by Councilperson Malone to approve the <br />minutes of the Regular Meeting held August 18, 1982 and the <br />Special Called Public Hearing held August 25, 1982 by the <br />La Porte City Council. Second by Councilperson Longley. The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren, <br />Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves and Mayor Cline <br />Nays: None <br />4. Mayor Cline declared by proclamation, September 17 through <br />23, 1982, as "Constitution Week" <br />5. Council considered making appointments to the Board of Direc- <br />tors of the La Porte Area Emergency Corps. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to table this item <br />for "Personnel" action in an executive session after Council <br />Action. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, <br />9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />lJ <br />
