<br />.:~ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 99-2221-A <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING LOCAL AMENDMENTS TO THE ADOPTED FIRE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BEING THE STANDARD FIRE PREVENTION <br />CODE-1994 EDITION, BY AMENDING CHAPTER 3 OF THE LOCAL AMENDMENTS <br />TO SAID CODE-RECOGNIZED STANDARDS AND PUBLICA TIONS; PROVIDING A <br />PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY <br />CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. Chapter 3 of the previously adopted local amendments to the <br /> <br />Standard Fire Prevention Code-1994 Edition, heretofore adopted as the official Fire <br /> <br />Code of the City of La Porte in Section 38-101 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of <br /> <br />La Porte, attached to this Ordinance as Exhibit A, are hereby adopted by the City <br /> <br />Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, replacing previously adopted Chapter 3 of the <br /> <br />local amendments to the Code previously adopted. <br /> <br />Section 2, Unless another penalty is expressly provided, every person <br /> <br />convicted of a violation of any provision of the Code or any ordinance, rule or regulation <br /> <br />adopted or issued in pursuance thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding <br /> <br />$2,000.00. Each act of violation and each day upon which any such violation shall <br /> <br />occur shall constitute a separate offense. The penalty provided by this section, unless <br /> <br />another penalty is expressly provided, shall apply to the amendment of any fire code <br /> <br />section, whether or not such penalty is reenacted in the amendatory ordinance. In <br /> <br />addition to the penalty prescribed above, the city may pursue other remedies such as <br /> <br />abatement of nuisances, injunctive relief and revocation of licenses or permits. <br />
