<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />STATE OF TEXAS ~ <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HARRIS ~ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />NO. 2002-31 <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION TO FILE CHALLENGE TO <br /> <br />APPRAISAL DISTRICT DETERMINATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, property tax values form a chief source of funding for the City of La Porte; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte believes that it is unquestionably in the best interests of <br />its constituents to secure maximum funding at the lowest possible tax rates; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it shall be the stated policy of the City of La Porte to reVIew all <br />determinations which erode the City's tax base; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is noted that the City of La Porte is within Harris County, and certain <br />property tax valuations and other determinations as defined in the Texas Property Tax Code are <br />solely performed by the Harris County Appraisal District; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the terms of the Texas Property Tax Code permit the filing of a challenge by <br />an affected taxing authority should it be dissatisfied with a determination of the Appraisal <br />District; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, certain challenges to Appraisal District determinations must be timely filed <br />within a very short time following notification ofthe taxing unit; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by City of La Porte that the challenge filed by <br />Robert T. Herrera of the City of La Porte prior to the adoption of this resolution on Harris <br />County Appraisal District account number 006-117-000-0014 is hereby ratified by the City <br />Council of the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />Passed and approved this the 8th Day of July 2002. <br /> <br /> <br />Attested: <br /> <br />LfJl/~'1iu.ut <br />M ha GIllett, CIty Secretary <br />
