<br /> <br />--' <br />.~.. ?.. r , __ <br />,. .. <br /> <br />• l~ <br />ORDINANCE N0. ~` ~' <br />AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THAT THE CANDIDATES WHO RECEIVED THE THIRD AND FOURTH <br />HIGHEST NUMBER OF QUALIFIED VOTES AT THE CITY CHARTER ELECTION HELD ON THE <br />FOURTH TUESDAY IN APRIL, A, D. 1958, ARE ELECTED AND SHALL SERVE AS COMMISSION- <br />ERS OF THE CITY OF LA PORTS. <br />WHEREAS, at a Special Meeting, held on the 25th day of April, A. D. <br />1958, the City Commission of the City of La Porte canvassed the votes and re- <br />turns of the regular City Election, held on the fourth Tuesday in April, A. D. <br />1958, and declared the results of such election as follows, to-wit: <br />For the office of Mayor - H. P. Pfeiffer, 648 votes; <br />For the office of Commissioner - John D. (Jack) Lawler, 451 votes; <br />_- ~, <br />_~ <br />- Odell L. Brown, 275 votes; <br />- Tom ~. Osburn, 264 votes; <br />- Frank R. Boyle, 208 votes; <br />- C. D. Deeter, 166 votes; <br />~ L~ <br />- Charlie Martin, lb6 votes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission declared H. P. Pfeiffer elected to the <br />office of Mayor of the City of La Porte, the City Commission declared John D. <br />(Jack) Lawler elected to the office of Commissioner of the City of La Porte, <br />and the City Commission declared Odell L. Brown elected to the office of Com- <br />missioner of the City of La Porte; and <br />WHEREAS, at the Special Meeting held on the 25th day of April, A. D. <br />-~ <br />1958, the City Commission of the City of La Porte canvassed the votes and re- <br />turns of the City Election, held on the fourth Tuesday in April, A, D. 1958, on, <br />the three (3) proposed Amendments to the Home Rule Charter of the City of La <br />Porte, and declared the results of such election as follows, to-wit: <br />For Amendment No. <br />Against Amendment <br />For Amendment No. <br />Against Amendment <br />For Amendment No. <br />Against Amendment <br />1- <br />No. <br />2- <br />No. <br />3- <br />No. <br />607 <br />1- <br />585 <br />2- <br />563 <br />3- <br />votes; <br />54 votes; <br />votes; <br />56 votes; <br />votes; <br />64 votes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission declared that the said Amendment No. 1, <br />D <br />said Amendment No. 2 aad said Amendment No. 3 were approved by a majority of <br />i <br />the electors voting thereon at the said City Election, and such three (3) Amend- <br />ments have become a part of the Home Rule Charter of the City of La Porte; now <br />'therefore <br />
