<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 86-18 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF THE <br />DEEPENING AND WIDENING OF THE HOUSTON SHIP CHANNEL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers has proposed the deepening <br /> <br />and widening of the Houston Ship Channel, to facilitate maritime <br /> <br />industry and ship movement in the waterway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte's Industrial District could <br /> <br />be enhanced by improvements which may be made to the Houston <br /> <br />Ship Channel; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is our belief that industrial development and <br /> <br />resource conservation are not mutually exclusive issues. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the La Porte City Council hereby expresses <br /> <br />its belief that the widening and deepening of the Houston Ship <br /> <br />Channel and four of its tributary streams would be of significant <br /> <br />benefit to the area. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this the 23rd day of June, 1986. <br /> <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br /> <br />?J. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />~~ <br /> <br />City Secretary <br /> <br />~uJd <br /> <br />City Attorney <br />
