<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 79- 3 <br /> <br />\. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte prohibits the sale and un- <br /> <br />permitted use of fireworks within its corporate jurisdiction; <br /> <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the sale of fireworks in the unincorporated areas <br /> <br />of Harris County is the primary source for the unauthorized use <br /> <br />of said fireworks in La Porte,; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the unpermitted and unsupervised use of fireworks <br /> <br />within the corporate boundaries of La Porte is a hazard to the <br /> <br />safety and welfare of La Porte residents; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Representative Gene Green of Houston has introduced <br /> <br />House Bill 124 which would prohibit the sale and use of fireworks <br />4i' in Harris County except for permitted and supervised displays; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS: <br /> <br />THAT this Commission, by this Resolution, hereby urges the <br /> <br />66th Legislature of the State of Texas to pass and Governor <br /> <br />William P. Clements to sign into Law House Bill 124, prohibiting <br />the unincorporat,d areas ~ <br />the sale and unpermitted use of fireworks in Harris County. <br /> <br />This Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after <br /> <br />its passage by the City Commission of the City of La Porte. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED, this <br /> <br />28 day of March <br /> <br />, 1979. <br /> <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />ay- <br />J.
