<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-3 <br /> <br />A RESOLU'fION SUPPORTING THE ENACT~iENT OF HOUSE BILL 194 <br />AND URGING ALL EL~C'r8D OPP.ICIALS IN THE STATE OF TEXAS TO PASS SAID <br />LEGISLATIon AND THE GOVERNOR OF THE: S'fA'fE OF TEXAS TO SIGN THE SANE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, heretofore prev iOllsly, House Bill 194 has been <br /> <br />filed and is currently before the House of RE;!presentatives of the <br /> <br />State of Texas: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said legislation has been submitten to the gen- <br /> <br />eral convention of the Texas Municipal League: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Resolutions Committee of the Texas Municipal <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />League unanimously approved said legislation, and the General <br /> <br />Assembly of the Texas Municipal Lea~ue likewise approved said <br /> <br />legislation; and <br /> <br />~lHEREAS, House Bill 194 provi.les needed flexibility for <br /> <br />cities in the State of Texas to assist the property owners and <br /> <br />residents in said cities in securing replacement of sanitary se~e~ <br /> <br />laterals when the same becomes necessary because of the relocation <br /> <br />and/o~ replacement of sanitary sewer mains: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the health, safety and well-being of every. <br /> <br />person in any city in the State of Texas fs dependent upon an <br /> <br />efficient system for the transportation of sewage and wastewater <br />. products; and <br />~VHEREAS, it may be totally impossible for a resident of <br /> <br />a ci ty, faced with an expend i ture of in excess of $1,000.00, to <br /> <br />secure.a low-cost loan for the money necessary to accomplish such <br /> <br />replacement of a sewer lateral: and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the residents of Texas cities are fully protected <br /> <br />under the terms of such legislation by reason of their options to <br /> <br />wi thdraw in the event the cost for such work is excessive: NO\~, <br /> <br />THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE ' TEXAS: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />1. That the City of La Porrp <br /> <br />Texas does support and urge the passage of House Bill 194 currently <br />
