RESOLUTION NO. fJf-~o e <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION REJECTING LOCAL MEASURED TELEPHONE SERVICE BY <br />SOUTHWESTERN BELL. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The City of La Porte, Texas desires to protect the <br />interests of all its citizens including the poor and the <br />elderly; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in response to <br />dissatisfaction with Southwestern <br />telepho~e service; and <br /> <br />a public drive to express <br />Bell's proposed local measured <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte believes the optional nature <br />of the proposed charging mechanism to be provisional and certain <br />to become mandatory as in the States of Florida and California; <br />and <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is determined that such a charging policy would <br />adversely affect all La porteons, particularly the elderly and <br />the poor; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1.
