<br />. . <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 85-6 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />OPPOSING THE PROPOSED MOBILE HOME LEGISLATION BY THE TEXAS LEGIS- <br />LATURE . <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of La Porte, Texas, a home <br />rule city, chartered pursuant to the Constitution and laws of the <br />State of Texas, have availed themselves of the right of local self <br />government; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte, Texas, <br />has determined that it is in the best interest of the citizens for <br />their general health, safety, welfare, and protection of property <br />values to restrict the location of mobile homes; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br />City of La Porte, Texas: <br /> <br />RESOLVED, that the proposed mobile home legislation is not <br />in the best interest of the citizens of Texas because of the <br />threat it poses to the doctrine of local self determination; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we oppose any legislation which <br />in any way would abolish or limit the power of any city in the <br />State of Texas, to restrict the location of mobile homes or enact <br />any other restriction they dee~ nece~sary; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Legislature of the State <br />of Texas be asked to oppose 'and defea't any such legislation <br />including but not limited to S.B. 621. <br /> <br />DULY RESOLVED this 17th day of April, 1985. <br /> <br />No~~~-k~~ <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />(I~Ud <br /> <br />City Secretary <br /> <br />AP~W~ <br /> <br />City Attorney <br />
