<br />- e <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. f1ooft;- /),3 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION DESIGNATING THE CITY SECRETARY OF THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AS THE PUBLIC INFORMATION COORDINATOR AND DELEGATING <br />RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUBLIC INFORMA TION TRAINING REQUIREMENTS <br />UNDER TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 552.012; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under the Texas Local Government Code Section 552.012 elected or <br />appointed public officials shall complete a course of training of not less than one and not more <br />than two hours regarding the responsibilities of the governmental body with which the official <br />serves and its officers and employees under Chapter 552 of the Texas Local Government Code <br />not later than the 90th day after the date the public official takes the oath of office or otherwise <br />assumes the person's duties as a public official; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, under Texas Local Government Code Section 552.012 a public official may <br />designate a public information coordinator to satisfy training requirements under said section; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Secretary of the City of La Porte is primarily responsible for <br />administering the responsibilities of the public official or governmental body under Chapter 552 <br />ofthe Texas Local Government Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the designated public information coordinator shall complete the training <br />course regarding the responsibilities of the governmental body with which the coordinator serves <br />and of its officers and employees under Chapter 552 of the Texas Local Government Code not <br />later than the 90th day after the date the coordinator assumes the person's duties as coordinator; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of La Porte deems it advisable and in the <br />public interest to designate the City Secretary of the City of La Porte as the Public Information <br />Coordinator to satisfy the training requirements for city elected and appointed officials under <br />Chapter 552 of the Texas Local Government Code; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council of the City of La Porte hereby designates the City Secretary <br />of the City of La Porte as the Public Infonnation Coordinator pursuant to Section 552.012(c) of <br />the Texas Local Government Code, and finds and declares that the City Secretary is responsible <br />for completing a training course regarding the responsibilities of the governmental body not later <br />than the 90th day after the date the City Secretary assumes the duties as Public Information <br />Coordinator. <br />
