RESOLUTION 2022-14 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, <br />AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE CRIME <br />PREVENTION AUTHORITY, DESIGNATING THE CITY MANAGER AS THE GRANTEE'S <br />AUTHORIZED OFFICIAL; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 1006 and Texas <br />Administrative Code Title 43; Part 3; Chapter 57, entities are eligible to receive grants from the Motor <br />Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority to provide financial support to law enforcement agencies for economic <br />motor vehicle crime; and <br />WHEREAS, this grant program will assist this jurisdiction to combat motor vehicle theft, motor <br />vehicle burglary and fraud -related motor vehicle crime; and <br />WHEREAS, City of La Porte has agreed that in the event of loss or misuse of the grant funds, <br />City of La Porte assures that the grant funds will be returned in full to Motor Vehicle Crime <br />Prevention Authority. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED and ordered that John Krueger, Lieutenant, is <br />designated as the Authorized Official to apply for, modify or cancel the grant application for the <br />Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention and Gay Collins, Accountant, is designated as the Financial <br />Officer for this grant. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, and ordered that Corby Alexander, City Manager, is designated <br />as the Authorized Official to accept the grant, from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LA PORTE, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. That the City of La Porte City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of La Porte <br />that the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority Grant be operated for the 2023 Fiscal Year; <br />and <br />Section 2. The City of LaPorte agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Office of the Motor Vehicle <br />Crime Prevention Authority funds, the City of La Porte assures that the funds will be returned <br />to the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority in full. <br />Section 3. The City Council officially finds, determines, recites, and declares that a sufficient written <br />notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted at a <br />place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the City for the time required by law preceding <br />this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Texas Government Code; <br />and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law at all times during which <br />this ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been discussed, considered and formally acted <br />upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves and confirms such written notice and the <br />contents and posting thereof. <br />Section S. This resolution shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval. <br />PASSED and APPROVED this, the 11 'h day of July, 2022. <br />
