r <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING • <br />OF THE LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />:~~i APRIL 26th,1937, 8:00 P.L. <br />Meeting was called to order by .Mayor Sharp with the following <br />Aldermen responding to roll call: C.l~~. Agee, P.L. Benson, <br />F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff. <br />~:~inutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />A.N. Mc Kay appeared before the Council in the interest of the <br />local Relief Committee, asking that the City cont~bute $5.00 per <br />month toward the administration of relief in La Porte . <br />?5.00 per mo.*Ald. Agee offered a motion which eras seconded by Ald. Boyle that <br />Relief the City pay X5.00 per month on the salary of Der J.A. Anderson, <br />of Goose Crock, Texas, who is the t~irector of Relief for this area, <br />. warrant_to be made in favor pf the local relief committee, to be <br />turned over by them to the ti~elfare League of Goose Creek. '_+mtion <br />further provided that the Mayor and the chairman of the City Relief <br />Com. be included in the membership of the local relief committee. <br />Carried. <br />Ashton Pdr C.L. Ashton appeared before the Council to report that he was <br />sewer ready for the Sewer Coru~ection agrred to by the Council at his pro- <br />gravel perty in block 279 La Porte. He also asked that the street formed <br />by the old Railroad right-of way be graded when the gravel had been <br />removed. The Council agreed that this should be done. <br />A communication from Norris Bros. waa read complimenting the Council <br />on their action in installing traffic signals on Main Street. The <br />letter was ordered placed on file. <br />Insurance The City Secretary handed to the Council the renewdd policies of <br />Policies Indemnity Insurance on the Volunteer Fire Department and the Fire <br />Insurance Policies on the Fire Trucks, together with ~E;•le•tter from <br />Mr A.T. Seammen,Agt. in regard to the terms of payment of the pre- <br />miums on these policies. <br />Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald. Roark that the Indemnity In- <br />surance Policy -~:F'. 3~.92;raanei~al. Cer•~ificate 0~1 Nevr Amts~m... <br />~as'uaity Ca and ~'ire~ Insurance Policies A01~.8759 and AOlI~8760, St <br />Paul Fire Fc Marine Insurance Co. be accepted ~ 'ghat the premium on <br />the Indemnity policy be paid as follows: one third on May 21st,193?, <br />one third in thirty days from that date and the balance in sixty <br />days from May 21st. Premix-m on Fire Insurance Policies to be paid <br />at regular bill nigh, Pr"ay; ]~Oth,1937,~ Carried <br />Stocicb:nn A letter was read from the Stewart Title Guaranty Co. in regard to <br />taxes a statement of delinquent taxes on property owned by Col. J.T. Stock- <br />~~~- ton. Motion by Ald. Boyle, second by Ald.
