Benson, F.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark <br />Fred R. Ruff. <br />Minutes of the last aeeting were read and approved. <br />Oath of C.PS. Agee was sworn in as Alderman for tiro years and adainistered <br />Offir..e the oath of office by Mayor Sharp. <br />George Co~~nts and E.E. Easterly appeared before the Council repre- <br />`?lo~l•: X20 stinting the La Porte Independent School District and stated that the <br />School District had apquired tax title to Block 220, La Porte. He <br />stated that the School Board asked p®rasission to keep the alley of <br />this block closed at the present tine and asked also that they have <br />peraission to use the City grader and drier to leTel the block for <br />use as an athletics field, the School Board to pay the iPages of the <br />driver and the gas and oil consumed in the project. After spec dis- <br />cussion a notion was offered by Ruff, second by Benson, that the mat- <br />ter of leveling Block 220, La Porte, be turned over to the Street and <br />Alley Committee, to work out a plan with the Athletic Coa~ittee of the <br />School Board, whereby this work eight be done. Carried. <br />Fir-~ ~"';17G'f' The ~~ayor appointed George Isensee as Fire Chief for the ensuing year <br />and announced that the balanese of appointments of officers and poa- <br />a~ittees vrould be made at the next regular Council aeeting. <br />-i1?a.~:~`;~.l Motion by BoylaKthat the annual financial stateaent of the City be <br />;;tats-.~e.=it published in the official newspaper, this was seconded by Agee and <br />carried by those present. <br />hffid.avi~ The City Secretary reported the filing of affidavits on the burning <br />of the fallewi.ng described City of La Porte Refunding Tarrant anal <br />City of La Pone Sewer Funding Bond, to merit: <br />That pertain City of La Porte Refunding Tarrant, Series 1935, <br />dated January 10,1935 to January 1950, optional prior to that <br />date, being `arrant No. 9 for X500.00, together with the Int- <br />erest Coupons No. 8 to 29, both inclusive, attached to said <br />Narrant, which Interest Coupons were due and payable in their <br />numeripal order semi-annually, beginning July 10,1939 to tJan- <br />uary 10,1950, both inclusive, arld <br />City of La Porte Sewer Funding Bond, dated May 10,1938, nun- <br />bered One(1), in the principal sum of Five Hundred Dollars, <br />0500.00) and due April 10,1939. <br />These affidavits were ordered placed on file. <br />St•tlaiti; Alderman Agee reported that on the request of 1~rs George Howald, <br />owner of the Variety Store, the Street light neai~~the corner of <br />Broadway and Main was orddred turned on as of April 1st. <br />Motion by Ruff, second by Boyle, that this cation of the Polipe <br />Co>astittee be apprcvved.
