428 <br />MINUTES <br />Le PURTE CITY CuU'~'CIL <br />Jt,1vUARY 27, 19L~7, 8:00 P. M. <br />Meeting was called to order by 1"'ayor Kuff with the following <br />aldermex and City officials preaent: old. J. N. Johnson, T. F. <br />smith, Geo. F. lvorris, J. L. Lanham, City Witty. Kiibler, city <br />,ecretary Sharp. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Motion by Smith, second by Johnson, that the dommunication <br />from Federal ~~orks ~igency, dated January 16, 1917, in regard <br />to application for strut and drainage improvements be plACed <br />on file. <br />Carried. <br />~: Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the following bills <br />in the amount of X118.96 be kllowed and ordered paid: <br />Magnolia Petroleum. Co. 95.9b <br />southwestern Bell Telepho;ae Co. 23.00 <br />La Porte Plumbing Service 2.00 <br />a 11.96 <br />Carried. <br />The Mayor read a letter from George C. Hawley, Chief Engineer, <br />Fire Insuranoe Division, dated January 23, 1947, advising that <br />some immediate action must be taken ir. order to retain the <br />present key rate, also advising that it will be necessary for <br />r©me officie.l in the Fire Department to send in the necessary <br />' drill report for the months of July, august & September which <br />were due on oetober 1st and for the months of uctober, ivovember <br />and December which were due on January 1st. No action was <br />taken . <br />Motion by Smith, second by Johnson, that tho bide on drainage <br />be opened. <br />The following bids were opened; George Cockburn, X1,300.00; <br />w. L. Jones' bid was in error quoting two figure, $1,065 and <br />X1,765.00. <br />Motion by Norris, second by ,mith, that the City secretary <br />oa11 YY. L. Jones to fine out which figure is correct and that <br />the bid on drainage be awarded to the lowest bidder. <br />Carried . <br />Motion by Johnson, second by Smit h, that the City order one <br />load of pea gravel ( 1~ to 6 yds.) Carried. <br />The tdlayor appointed the Street & alley Committee to investigate <br />the pouring of waste oil ir_ City ditch on lath St. by McMillan <br />C,evrolet Co. <br />Motion by Johnson, second by Smith, that the Rocket ~+iotor Coaches <br />be requested to refrain front blowing horns unnecessarily within <br />the City limits. <br />Darried. <br />v <br />} <br />
