• MINUTES - REGULAR MEE~ <br />LA PORTE CITY COMNQSSION - FEBRUARY 17, 1961 <br />?:00 P. M. <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P. <br />Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Brown, Dunham, <br />Stabs and Osborn, Supt. W,A. A rthur, Attorney C. L. Pit:aan and City Clerk <br />Frank G. Baker. <br />Also present were Mr. Druekhammer, Mr. Laughlin, Mrs. Fay Powell, Judge & <br />Mrs. West, James Counts (Engineer, North Side Recreation), and Mr. & Mrs. <br />Bx•unrmierhop. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Carried. <br />Mrs. Fay Powell came before the ComnYi.ssion for the cause of leukemia, and <br />asked the Commission to designate the month of March as <br />Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that Mrs. Fay Powell and associates <br />be allowed to collect from house to house and have men stand at intersections <br />during the month of March for the March of Leukemia. <br />Carried. <br />Mr. Laughlin, with the Bayou Properties, appeared before the Commission in <br />connection with paving Texas Avenue for one block, from "J" to "I" Street. <br />Commissioner Dunham made a progress report on Nor th Side recreation. <br />Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that Ordinance on election be read at a <br />later meeting, and that Mayor Pfeiffer be authorized to select a Judge and <br />3 clerks. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Merle Ray Thames be placed on regular <br />patrolman status at regular patrolman's pay, effective February 15, 1961, <br />payable March 1. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Frank Adams be paid for seven (7) <br />days vacation, due in 19~. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, that the application for text-cab permit <br />of T.E,Bolding, be renewed. <br />Carried. <br />
