<br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />of the <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION, LA PORTS, TEXAS <br />September 20, 1965 <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer, <br />Commissioners Lois ompton, W. A. Stabs, Jr., and <br />Russell Shepherd. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMM/SS/ON ABSENT: Tom W. Osburn <br />OTHER CITY GFF/C/ALS PRESENT: City Engineer H. Carlos <br />Smith, Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, City <br />Attorney Knox Ask ins, and City Clerk Marilyn <br />Kelley. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer <br />+ + + <br />1. Minutes of the regular meeting of September 13, <br />1965 were approved as written. <br />+ + + <br />2. Mr. Sam F. Beltesiotis presented the Commission <br />letters from Houston Lighting and Power Company <br />and Houston Natural Gas Corporation, approving <br />the closing of the a11ey in Block 147, La Porte. <br />Mr. Betlesoitis was advised that he should also <br />secure letters from Southwestern Be11 Telephone <br />Company and United Gas Corporation. Further <br />that he furntsh a title opinion letter from his <br />Attorney. When the Commission has all letters in <br />hand, Cher wilt act on the request. <br />+ + + <br />3. Commissioner Stabs made a motion, seconded by <br />Corrmissioner Compton that the City purchase <br />Lots 1 to 4, Mock 177, La Porte. Further that <br />the City pay ,2,500. for said Cots, ,500. from <br />the General Fund and $2,000. to be borrowed from <br />Bayshore National Bank at 3~ interest. Motion <br />carried. <br />+ + + <br />4. A motion was made by Commissioner Stabs, seconded <br />by Commissioner Compton that the City Attorney <br />be authortzed to draw up an ordinance to abandon <br />a port ton of street between Blocks 51 and 304. <br />Motion carried. <br />+ + + <br />
