Meeting called to order by Mayor Meza at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor J. J. Meza, <br />Councilpersons Norman L. Malone, John Longley, Douglas <br />Latimer, Tom Simons, Deotis Gay, Don Skelton, Linda Wester- <br />gren <br />Members of the City Council Absent: Councilperson Gus Faris <br />Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Betty Waters, <br />Chief of Police H. F. Freeman, Director of Public Works <br />Jerry Hodge, Parks .Director Stan Sherwood, Fire Chief Joe <br />Sease, Chief Inspector David Paulissen, Graduate Engineer <br />John Joerns, Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom <br />• Others Present: Craig Garnett, Bayshore Sun; Frieda Beaty, <br />Baytown Sun; Dave Corbin, Busch, Hutchison & Associates; and <br />73 interested citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by City Attorney Askins <br />3. The Council considered the minutes of the Regular Meeting of <br />March 17, 1982, the Joint Public Hearing and Special Called <br />Meeting of April 3, 1982. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Westergren to accept and <br />approve the minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Simons. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Latimer, Simons, Gay, <br />Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />4. Mayor Meza presented Certificates of Appreciation to Council- <br />person Latimer and Councilperson Simons. Councilperson Faris <br />was not present to receive his certificate. <br />5. Mayor Meza asked that the newly elected Councilpersons come <br />forward to receive the Oath of Office. Mayor Meza adminis- <br />tered the oath for Councilperson Edward Matuszak, Council- <br />.. person Y.evin Graves and Councilperson Lindsay Pfeiffer. <br />
