The meeting was called to order by Mayor Meza at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor J. J. Meza, <br />Councilpersons Norman L. Malone, John Longley, Edward Matuszak, <br />Kevin Graves, Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, Don Skelton, <br />Linda ;~~Testergren <br />Members of the City Council Absent: None <br />Members of the City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins; City Secretary Betty T. T9aters, <br />Director of Public Works Jerry Hodge, Fire Marshal Paul Hicken- <br />bottom, Police Chief H. F. Freeman, Director of Parks & Recrea- <br />tion Stan Sherwood, Graduate Engineer John Joerns, Fire Chief <br />Joe Sease, Chief Inspector David Paulissen <br />Others Present: Craig Garnett, Bayshore Sun; Betsy Webber, <br />Bayshore Sun; Frieda Beaty, Baytown Sun; Representative from <br />the Southeast Weekly; Dave Corbin of Busch, Hutchison & Associ- <br />ates, Inc. There were 94 interested citizens present in the <br />Council Chambers. <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Malone <br />3. The Council considered the minutes of the Regular Meeting of <br />the La Porte City Council held April 7, 1982 and the Special <br />Called Meeting held April 17, 1982. <br />A motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the <br />minutes as presented. Second y Councilperson TiVestergren. The <br />motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Matuszak, Graves, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Pdeza <br />Nays: None <br />4. Mayor Meza introduced Harris County Judge Jon Lindsay, who <br />would administer the oath of office to the newly elected of- <br />ficials, Mayor Virginia Cline and Councilperson John D.
