r ~ <br />MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING AND <br />SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF THE <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 30, 1989 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:12 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Betty Waters, Mike Cooper, Ed Matuszak, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Mike Shipp, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Jerry <br />Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Assistant to the City Manager Janie <br />Bais, Finance Director Jeff Litchfield, Fire Chief Joe Sease, <br />Assistant Fire Chief John Dunham <br />Others Present: Pete Fischer; John Black, Bayshore Sun; 6 <br />citizens <br />2. The Mayor called to order the public hearing regarding <br />annexation of an industrial tract at the intersection of <br />Fairmont Parkway and Bay Park Road. <br />The City Attorney reviewed the proposed annexation and the <br />proposed service plan for the area. <br />The Mayor called for public input. There being none, the <br />public hearing was adjourned. <br />3. Council considered authorizing preparations for a general <br />obligation bond sale. <br />The City Manager reviewed with Council the packets previously <br />sent to them regarding the bond sale. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Shipp to authorize the City <br />Manager to prepare for a general obligation bond sale. Second <br />by Councilperson Waters. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 <br />nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, McLaughlin, <br />Shipp, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4. Council adjourned into executive session at 6:39 P.M. to <br />discuss two items: V.A.T.S. Article 6252-17, Section 2(G) <br />
