MEMBER <br /> Councilmember District 3 <br /> MINUTES OF DRAINAGE AND FLOODING COMMITTEE <br /> AUGUST 4, 2011 <br /> The Drainage and Flooding Committee of the City of La Porte met on Thursday, August 5, 2011, at the <br /> City Hall Council Chambers, 604 West Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, Texas, at 5:00 p.m. to consider the <br /> following items of business: <br /> 1. Call to Order <br /> Chairman Mike Mosteit called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. Members of the Drainage and <br /> Flooding Committee present: Chairman Mike Mosteit and Vice Chairman Mike Clausen and <br /> Committee Members Chuck Engelken and John Zemanek. Absent: None. <br /> Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: <br /> City Manager's Office: Ron Bottoms and Traci Leach <br /> City Secretary's Office: Sharon Harris <br /> Planning Department: Tim Tietjens and Julian Garza <br /> Public Works Department: Dave Mick <br /> 2. Consider approval of Minutes of the Drainage and Flooding Committee Meeting held on July <br /> 11, 2011 — P. Fogarty <br /> Vice Chairman Clausen moved to approve the minutes as presented. Engelken seconded. <br /> MOTION PASSED. <br /> Ayes: Chairman Mosteit, Vice Chairman Clausen, Committee <br /> members Engelken and Zemanek <br /> Nays: None <br /> Absent: None <br /> 3. Receive report from City Staff and Harris County Flood Control District regarding Northwest <br /> Park Diversion Basin (Redirection of F101 -06) — J. Garza <br /> City Engineer Julian Garza and Gene Rushing, Jr. of the Project Management Section with Harris <br /> County Flood Control District provided a report regarding Northwest Park Diversion Basin <br /> (Redirection of F101 -06). Mr. Rushing reported it would be twelve months before the preliminary <br /> engineering report would be available. <br /> Vice Chairman Clausen questioned who regulates the depth of pipelines. City Engineer Julian <br /> Garza advised the Texas Railroad Commission governs the safety of pipelines. <br /> Chairman Mosteit questioned the expansion on Valleyview and if there would be any homes <br /> affected. Mr. Rushing advised there were a number of alternatives to be considered in order not to <br /> affect homes. Chairman Mosteit also questioned if the preliminary report had been funded.
