~ ~ <br />1 <br />MINUTES <br />LA FORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 26,1939,8:00 P.M. <br />Meeting was called to order bg Mayor Pro tem Ruff, in thb absence of <br />Mayor Sharp. The following Aldermen were present, C.M. Agee, P.L. Benson, <br />~'.R. Boyle, J.J. Roark, Fred R. Ruff. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />The City Secretary presented the news letter from the Texas League of <br />Municipalities, dated June 23,1939, which had special reference to <br />legislation o~ Revenue Bonds. This was turned over to the City At- <br />torney for further study and report. <br />mayor Pro-tem Ruff presented a letter from the Ludlow Valve Mfg. Co. <br />of Houston in regard to the City's order of 6" cheok valve For Well <br />No. 2. Mr Ruff stated that the valve had been reoeived and installed~.~ <br />Mayor Sharp Dame in to the meeting at this point. <br />E4• The Mayor called a meeting of the Council to sit as Equalization Board <br />Board for the City, for 8:00 oclock, Friday night, June 30,1939• <br />Int. ~dotion by Agee, second by Boyle, that the Mayor and City Secretary be <br />Refdg instructed and authorized to issue a Warrant in the amount oP X10.00 <br />~; Tarrant in favor of the Manufacturer's Trutt Co. of New 'fork, to cover the <br />July 10th interest on City of La Porte Refunding Warrant No. 3. The <br />above described warrant is to be dPsarged to the Int. & Sinking War- <br />. rant Fund. garried <br />Bill of Motion by Agee, seaond by Ruff, that the Mayor and City secretary be <br />Sale authorized to execute a Bill of Sale to Harry Witek for that certain <br />Royal Typewriter No•11~-85209 belonging to the City of La Porter for <br />the sum of X3.00. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Agee, second by Benson, that '+~arrant No. 2823, to J.S. Chiver, <br />in the amount of X3.50 be ratified. <br />Carried. <br />Tires Alderrna.n Boyle made a detailed report of his investigation of prices <br />Grader and speoifications on tires for the grader advisin~ that the higher <br />priced tires contained a corresponding hig~ier amoun of rubber. <br />~ttotion by Agee, second by Ruff, that the City buy 2 - 32 x 5, Solid <br />Cushion Tires for the front wheels of the grader, @ X53.78 per tire, <br />pressed on , delivered at La Porte ~ purchase to be made from Goodyear <br />Tire & Rubber Co. thro their agent C.C. Mc Donald. Carried. <br />Post Motion by Benson, seaond by Agee, that the Mayor and City Secretary <br />Cards be authorized to issue a Warrant in the amount of X15.00 for Post <br />Cards to be used for Water Bills. <br />Carried <br />over <br />
