• <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />OF THE LA PORTE CITY COIINCIL <br />February 21, 1938 - 8:00 P. M. <br />A special meeting, called by the ffiayor for the purpose of considering the <br />inspection and purchase of an American-La France fire truck own®d by the <br />Arnerioan-L~a France and Foamite Industries, Inc., and looated at ~a~e~t~ter, <br />Texas, all of the Council members having been duly notified, eras called to <br />order by the ~dayor and the following Aldermen were present: C. M. Agee, <br />Fred Ruff, Frank Boyle, J. J. Roark. Alderman P. L. Benson was absont, due <br />to illness. <br />A~.LaF Mr. A. B. Busboy, salesman of the American_~, France Company, gave a de- <br />Truck. tailed report on the fire truck, stated that the truck originally was sold <br />for the cum of X10,500.00, to the City of Floydada and offered to sell the <br />same to the City of La Porte for the sum of #1,000.00 cash, the truck to <br />be delivered to the City at Sweetwater, in ita present condition, with all <br />of its original equipment, any and sll needed repairs to be made by the <br />City. <br />After a lengthy dissuasion of the proposition, a motion was made by Alderman. <br />Boylo, second by Alderman Ruff, that the Mayor appoint a eamaaittee to go to <br />Sweetwater, Texas, at the Cityts expense, to inspect the truck and with full <br />power and authority to purchase the same for the City under the proposition <br />offered by Mr. Busboy. The motion carried by the unanimous vote of those <br />pre sent . <br />Motion was made by Alderman Ruff, second by Alderman Roark, that if the City <br />purchased the truck it be sent to Da11aa to be repaired as necessary, at the <br />Cityts expense. The motion carried unanimously. <br />Potion was made by Alderman Ruff, second by Alderman Agee, that the Mayor <br />and City Secretary be authorised and instructed to issue a warrant in the <br />sum of X75.00 to defray the expenses of the committee to Sweetwater, Texas. <br />IIpon motion by Alderman Agee, second by Alderman ~~/ Council adjourned. <br />Secretary of t e C ty o La orte ~, yor of t e City o La orte Texas <br />Texas <br />
