The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:05 P.M. <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Betty Waters, Mike Cooper, Ed Matuszak, Alton <br />Porter, Mike Shipp, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Jerry Clarke <br /> <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br /> <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Assistant to the City Manager Janie <br />Bais, Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Director of <br />Community Development Joel Albrecht, Finance Director Jeff <br />Litchfield, Purchasing Manager Louis Rigby, Parks Supervisor <br />Bert Clark <br /> <br />Others Present: Dorothy Purdy, Jo Ann Bayes, Hilda Bissell, <br />Professional Secretaries Association; Lou Lawler, Marie <br />Dennis, Rev. Don Johnson, Seamen's Center/Barbour's Cut <br />Branch; John Black, Bayshore Sun; 30 citizens <br /> <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Gay. <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the regular <br />meeting held March 27, 1989. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the <br />minutes of March 27 as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Porter, Shipp, <br />Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />4. The Mayor proclaimed the week of April 23-29 as Professional <br />Secretaries Week. <br /> <br />5. Mrs. Kim Kamp addressed Council asking that they approve the <br />Elizabeth Lane right-of-way in order that the children living <br />on Elizabeth Lane and Alvey could have save access to get to <br />Lomax Elementary School. <br />
