~ ~ <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 10, 1992 <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson Alton Porter <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Director of Parks & Recreation Stan <br />Sherwood, Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, Police Chief <br />Bobby Powell, Human Resources/Purchasing Manager Louis Rigby, <br />Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom, Assistant City Attorney John <br />Armstrong, Aging Services Supervisor Karen Beerman, Building <br />Inspector Mark Lewis, Police Officer Charles Lunsford <br />Others Present: Retiree Sam Knowles and family; Lou Lawler; <br />Roy Johnson; Mary Gay; Royce Hovey; Herb McElveen; <br />approximately 20 citizens <br />The invocation was given by City Attorney Knox Askins. <br />Council considered approving the minutes of the public hearing <br />and regular meeting of Council held January 27, 1992. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the <br />January 27 minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Sutherland. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4.~ Police Officer Charles Lunsford was honored as Employee of the <br />Quarter for October, November and December, 1991. He was <br />presented a plaque of appreciation. <br />5. Retiree Sam Knowles was recognized and lauded for his faithful <br />service to the City as Warehouse Supervisor. He was presented <br />with a gold wristwatch in appreciation of his service. <br />6. Certificates of Appreciation, as part of an ongoing Centennial <br />project, were presented to Mary Gay, Royce Hovey, Roy Johnson, <br />and Leo Rizzuto. Due to Mr. Rizzuto's illness, the <br />certificate was accepted by his daughter, Paula Rizzuto. <br />7. George Paulissen, Morgan's Point resident, was acknowledged <br />as the official chairman of Morgan's Point's beard growing <br /> <br />
