<br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 22, 1992 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:05 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob McLaughlin, Alton <br />Porter, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell, Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson Guy Sutherland <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, <br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, City Secretary Cherie <br />Black, Police Chief Bobby Powell, Director of Public Works <br />Steve Gillett, Director of Parks and Recreation Stan Sherwood, <br />Human Resources/Purchasing Manager Louis Rigby, Planning <br />Director Chuck Harrington, Recreation Director Tim O'Connor <br />Others Present: John Black, Bayshore Sun; 20 citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Bob McLaughlin. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the meeting held <br />June 8, 1992. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve the June 8 <br />minutes as presented. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The <br />motion carried, 6 ayes, 0 nays, 2 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, <br />Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilpersons Porter and Gay <br />4. Retiree Jack Maxwell was presented a gold watch from the City <br />to commemorate his years of dedicated service to the City. <br />5. Centennial Certificates were delayed to await the arrival of <br />two of the recipients. <br />6. A special presentation of appreciation plaques was made to <br />Debra Donnellan and Jason Redden, for their heroic efforts in <br />the saving of a life at the wave pool. <br />7. There were no citizens wishing to address Council. <br />8. Council considered an ordinance approving and authorizing a <br />professional engineering contract for the Farrington waterline <br />replacement project. <br />
