• <br />~\\ • <br />MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARINGS AND REGULAR MEETING <br />1, <br />2. <br />3. <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 14, 1992 <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell, Jerry <br />Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, <br />City Attorney Knox Askins, Assistant to the City Secretary Sue <br />Lenes, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Police Chief Bobby <br />Powell, Human Resources/Purchasing Manager Louis Rigby, <br />Director of Finance Jeff Litchfield, Director of Public Works <br />Steve Gillett, Director of Parks and Recreation Stan Sherwood, <br />Recreation Superintendent Tim O'Connor, Fire Chief Joe Sease, <br />Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom, Director of Planning Chuck <br />Harrington, Inspector Mark Lewis, Police Lt. Carl Crisp, Dispatcher Rusty Shepherd <br />Others Present: Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman <br />Betty Waters, Lou Lawler, Hal and Jan Lawler and children, <br />Irene O'Conner and sons, 1st Vice Region of the Jane Long <br />Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Marie <br />Russell, The La Porte Dixieland Band, Mr. & Mrs. John Lott and <br />Crystal, Postal Employees Charles Gunnells, Patsy Meza and Ray <br />Escobedo, Ann Malone and a number of other citizens <br />The invocation was given by Mayor Malone. <br />Council considered approving minutes of the regular meeting <br />held August 24, 1992. <br />Motion was made by Counciloerson Cooper to approve the minutes <br />o August 24 as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Sutherland. The motion carried, 7 ayes, 0 nays, 2 abstain. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Porter, Gay, <br />Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilpersons Thrower and McLaughlin (had not been <br />present at that meeting) <br />
