• <br />• <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL CALLED MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 18, 1988 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of Cif Council Present: Iviayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Betty Waters, Mike Cooper, Ed Matuszak, Mike <br />Shipp, Deotis Gay (arrived at 6:10 P.M.), B. Don Skelton, <br />Jerry Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: Councilperson Alton Porter <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Ask ins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Assistant to the City Manager Janie <br />Bais, Finance Director Jeff Litchfield, Director of Community <br />Development Joel Albrecht <br />Others Present: Barbara and Tracy Matuszak; John Black, <br />Bayshore Sun; four citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Mayor Malone. <br />3. Council canvassed results of the District 3 recount of ballots <br />held May 11. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1585-A - AN ORDINANCE <br />DECLARING THE RECOUNT OF THE ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE ON MAY 7, 1988, FOR THE ELECTION OF A COUPICILPERSON, <br />DISTRICT 3; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Waters to adopt Ordinancd <br />1 8 -A as read by the City Attornev. Second by Councilperson <br />Skelton. The motion carried, 7 ayes and 0 nays (Councilperson <br />Gay had not yet arrived). <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Waters, Cooper, Matuszak, Shipp, <br />Skelton, Clarke and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4. Council considered approving change order ~k2 for site work at <br />La Porte's Bay Forest Golf Course maintenance complex. <br />Motion was made by Councilperso Skelton to approve change <br />order 4k in the amount of $12.789. Second by Councilperson <br />
