The meeting was called to order by Mayor Cline at 7:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Virginia Cline, <br />Councilpersons Kevin Graves, Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, <br />B. Don Skelton, Linda Westergren, Norman Malone, John Longley, <br />Ed Matuszak <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, Assistant City Secretary Laura Hall, <br />Administrative Intern Doug de la Morena, Police Chief Herb <br />Freeman, Director of Parks & Recreation Stan Sherwood, Pur- <br />chasing Agent Jackson Ray, Assistant Director of Public Works <br />Luther Maxey, Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom, Fire Chief Joe <br />Sease <br />• Others Present: Jim Wyatt, Debbie Rihn, M. Brewer, Mr. and <br />Mrs. Tim Dewalt, Robert Head, Charlie Perry, Mike Martinez, <br />Dennis Dunham, Paul Felgner, John Albanese, Mark Hill, <br />Arlene Arends of the Bayshore Sun-Broadcaster, 8 citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Gay. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the regular meeting <br />held April 4, 1984. <br />Councilperson Skelton had several additions to the minutes: <br />(a) on item 7, he had commented that AMI had made their <br />interest know in the City of La Porte and said they could <br />move beds from one city to another, so they may have gone <br />ahead and started a request; (b) on item 8, he requested <br />staggered terms for the members of the Health Facilities <br />Development Corporation board; (c) on item 11, had requested <br />Mr. Owen to prepare a safety plan covering evacuation and <br />safety measures in the event of a pipeline disaster. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the minutes <br />as amended to include his comments. Second by Councilperson <br />Westergren. The motion carried, 9 ayes, 0 nays. <br />• .Ayes: Councilpersons Graves, Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren, <br />Malone, Longley, Matuszak and Mayor Cline <br />Nays : Nzone <br /> <br />
