M. <br />s <br />Special meting of the Commission was called to order with <br />the following Members and Officials present: Commissioners <br />Pfeiffer and Crate, City Attorney Kiibler. <br />Commission Crate presented the written resignation of Mayor <br />Fred ~. Ruff. Upon motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, <br />the M ayor~s resignation was accepted and the office of Mayor <br />of the City of La Porte, Tea~as, was declared vacant. <br />Commissioner Pfeiffer presented the written resignation of <br />City Clerk Mrs. Harold"H. 9h~arp. Upon motion by Pfeiffer, <br />second by Crate, the City~Clerk~s resignation was accepted <br />and the office of City Clerk of La Porte, Texas, was de- <br />clared vacant. <br />Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, to accept the resig- <br />nation of Mrs. Robbie Stabs, assistant City Clerk. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Crate, second by Pfeiffer, that H. J. Pfeiffer <br />be appointed Mayor Pro-tem and to have all the power and <br />to perform all of the duties as Mayor pending the appoint- <br />ment of a person to fill the office of Mayor. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate, to employ J. E. Muldoon <br />as City Clerk, effective May 1, 1947, at a monthly salary <br />of X275.00, to be paid in semi-mo~.thly installments. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate, that the City Clerk <br />furnish: a bond in the sum of ~15?00.00 conditioned as the <br />law requires. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate, that the City pay <br />the premiums on all bonds for City employees and officials. <br />Carried, <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate, to send a certified <br />copy of these minutes to the First National Bank of La <br />Porte, Texas. Carried. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate, <br />Certified Public Accountant, to thee: <br />and to make an audit of the month of <br />make recommendation as to any needed <br />bookkeeping system. <br />to have T. ~. Trotter, <br />~ the recent City audit <br />April, 1947, and to <br />changes in the City <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Crate, to employ Mrs. Raleigh <br />Erwin temporarily as Assistant City Clerk, at a salary of <br />125.00 per month, to be paid in semi-monthly installments. <br />Carried. <br />
