<br />~ 2~r <br />MINUTES - SPECIAL MEETING <br />LA PCRTE CITY COMMISSION -MARCH 29, 19,4.9 <br />ll:3o A. M. <br />Special meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. J. <br />Pfeiffer, with the following members and city officials presents Commissioners <br />Jas. S. Crate, Jr., and Jas. E. Stewart, Raleigh Ervin, Supt. of Public PTorks, <br />~. Maness, represe~i.ng Wyatt C. Hedriok, City Engineer, City Attorney John S. <br />Kiibler, and City Clerk J. E. Muldoon. <br />Minutes of the last meeting wero read and approved. <br />Mr. Ernest L. Broom, Jr., appeared before the Coaunissio~n in connection with pro- <br />posed issue of X100,000 of bonds for street,and garbage incinerator bonds, and the <br />issuance of additional bonds heretofore authorized against the water and sewer <br />system revenues. <br />Mr. Brown presented a contract in which sets out services to be performed by <br />him in the proposed bond issue of X100,000 and for the issuance of additicaial <br />water and sewer bonds heretofore authorized. For, and in consideration of his <br />services, and in reimbursement of his expenses, the city agrees to pay him a <br />Dash fee equivalent to one and one half (1,~ .) percent of the bonds issued for <br />either of the purposes named above, this fee to be paid o~n a prorata basis, as <br />I~ bonds are actually issued, and delivered. . <br />`~ .Motion by Stewart, seoond~ by Crate, to employ Ernest L. Brown, Jr., under terms <br />of contract, and authorizing the DTayor and City Clerk to sign same. <br />Carried. <br />The Mayor introduoed ar_ ordinance calling a bond election. The ordinance v-as read <br />in full and Commissioner Crate moved that it be adopted. Tho motion was seconded <br />by Commissioner Stewart and carried by the following vote: AYES: P.ie.yor Pfeiffer, <br />Commissioners Crate arxi Stewart. NOES; None. The ordinance thus adopted follows: <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the City Co~rission of the City of La Porte, Texas: <br />Section 1: That an eleotion shall. be held in and throughout the City of La Porte, <br />Texas, on the 16th day of April. , 19I~9, at which election the following pro- <br />positions shall be submitted to the duly qualified resident electors of said city <br />who own taxable property tirithin said city and who have duly rendered the same for <br />taxation, for their action thereupon: <br />PROPOSITION N0. ONE <br />SHALL THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEYAS BE AUTHORIZED <br />TO ISSUE THE BONDS OF SAID CTTY IN THE AriOUNT OF X75,000, MATURING <br />SERIALLY ~'~ITHIN TYJENTY (2U) YEARS FROr;i THEIR DATE OR DATES, A1QD BEARING <br />INTEREST AT A RATE NOT TO EXCEID FOUR (1 `.)
