21i <br />MLFTUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />LA FORTE CITY COMfvIISSION -MAY 21ST, 195. <br />l~:3o P. ~. <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor Burgin <br />with the following members and city officials present: Commissioners L. ft. <br />Rigby and Harold P. Pfeiffer, Supt. of Public Works W. A. Arthur, Special <br />Attorney Jno. S. Kiibler, and City Clerk J. E. Muldoon. <br />Minutes of the la.~t meeting wr ere r ead and approved. <br />Mr. M. L. Brumleu, representing the South Texas Equipment Company, appeared <br />before the Commission, and told of the advantages of the Packmaster. The <br />Commission advised Mr. Brumleu they would send him a copy of the bid notice <br />when the city was ready to take bids on a Packer Type garbage truck. <br />Judge Chas. F. Norris and Police Chief Walter Roberson appeared before the <br />Commission to find out if the Judge could try a man on Sunday. Special. <br />Attorney Jno. S. Kiibler advised the Judge that a defendant cannot be for- <br />ced to trial on Sunday, but that in the case of prisonexs in the La Porte <br />city jail, the Judge could on Sunday accept their pleas of guilty ar set <br />their bails so that they can be released. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer second by Rigby, that Ordinance No. ~5, being <br />AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE COI~IPENSATION TO BE RECEIVED BY THE <br />MAYOR, COI~ISSION~.S, CITY CLr`ItK, CITY ATTORNEY, JUDGE OF THE <br />CORPORATION COURT, CHIEF OF POLICE, FIRE MARSHAL AND DIREC~t <br />OF PUBLIC WORKS , V`JHIC H SHALL INCLUDE THE DUTIES OF BUILDING ~ <br />ELECTRICAL AND PLU~dBING INSPECTOR, PROVID]NG FOR THE TIC AND <br />MARINER OF PAYMENT OF SUCH COPJIPENSATION, PROVIDING FCH EMPI.OY~= <br />MF~iT OF PERSC~IS BY DEPARTMENT HEADS AND APPROPRIATING TFiE A~7NEY <br />FOR ALL SUCH PURPOSES, <br />be adopted as read. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Rigby s eegnd by Pfeiffer that Ordinance No. 166, being <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THE CITY CLERK, THE JUDGE OF THE COR- <br />PORATION COURT, THE CHIEF' OF POLICE, THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC <br />WCRKS, THE FIRE MARSHAL AND THE HEALTH OFFICER, <br />be adopted as read. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Pfeiffer, second by Rigby, that Ordinance No. x.67, being <br />A1'V ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE COMPENSATION TO BE PAID TO EDWARD J. <br />CARE FOR HIS LE7GAL SERVICES IN THE MONTH OF MAY, 195., <br />be adopted as read. <br />Carried. <br />Mayer Burgin announced to the Commission that the State Highway Commission <br />had accepted job on Higk~+rays 225 and lla.6, Job Control 389 5-18, and the City <br />should do the same. <br />The Commission unanimously accepted State Highnray job on Highways 225 & 1l~6. <br />Carried. <br />
