• <br />GJ MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION - MARCH 17, 1961 <br />~~ <br />:,-~: 7:00 P. M. <br />°~°~~ '~ <br />~~ Regular meeting of the City Co~mni.s sion was called to order by Mayor H.P. <br />Pfeiffer, with the follov~3.ng members present: Commissioners Dunham, Stabs, <br />and Brown (Osborn absent due to work), Attorney Pitman, Supt. W,A.Arthur <br />C~ and City Clerk Frank G. Baker. <br />~~ <br />'~ Also present were Mrs. Brummerhop and Mr. Holley (Press), and Mr. Brummerhop. <br />~~ <br />.~ Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />-.,~ <br />Carried. <br />~° Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that the first regular meeting in April <br />~ be set to Thursday, April 6th. <br />C~ <br />Carried. <br />Street signs were discussed, and Commis sinner Brown stated that he would <br />proceed to get them placed at once. <br />The Houston Lighting & Power Compa~r sign was suggested to be moved to the <br />location of the present Houston Natur al Gas Company~s sign on Highway 1lt6 <br />North. <br />The contract agreement of Millwee was read and placed on file for further <br />discussion. <br />City Attorney Pitman gave a legal opinion that taxes assessed against <br />improvements only on Lots 17 to 24, Block 180, town of La Porte, were <br />actually assessed as a personal property tax against A.W,nichardson, <br />and recourse is against A.W.Richardson alone. <br />Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Comadssioner Stabs be authorized <br />to lease or purchase a radio for Rudell Phillips, to be used as a police <br />radio. <br />Carried <br />Motion by Brown, second by Stabs, that the cost of the for storx sewer <br />from 2nd Street to Broadway and "A", be paid, approximately $1,200.00. <br />Carried. <br />~3 <br />~~ <br />~,~ <br />Motion by Brown, second by Stabs, that Comm~.ssioner Brown be authorized <br />to contract with Sonr~ Mc Key for the cost of curbing on 1st Street and <br />blacktop alleyway at sidewalk, and report back to Coimni.ssion. <br />Carried, <br />
