~ ~ <br />MINUTES - REGULEiR MEETIlVG <br />LA PORTE CITY COMMISSION - APRIL 6, 1961 <br />7:00 P.Ai, <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P. <br />Pfeiffer, with the following members present: Commissioners Osburn, Brown, <br />and Stabs (Dunham absent due to work), Attorney Pitman, Supt. Arthur, and <br />City Clerk Frank G. Baker. <br />Also present were Asst t, Supt, Cunningham, City Inspector I.R. King, Mr. <br />Carlos Smith, Joe Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Bruannerhop. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved, <br />Carried. <br />Mr. Johnson appeared before the Commission to request that Happy Harbor be <br />exempted from taxes for the years 195lt through 1960 on Lots 1 to 3, Bayfront <br />Block, Bayshore Park, and this property placed on tax exempt rolls for future <br />years, <br />Attorney Pitman was requested to give the Commission a decision within a few <br />days. , <br />Motion by Osborn, second by Stabs, that Eng. Est. #7 on City Hall and Fire <br />Station, in the amount of X222.62, and Architectural Invoice # 1 in the <br />amount of X300.00, and Invoice # 2 in the amount of X138.28, be paid, <br />Carried. <br />Mr. Smith and the Commission discussed the remodeling of the sewer plant, and <br />Mr. Smith was authorized to proceed to get estimates and pleas together so <br />thAt the Commission can request Federal funds. <br />Motion by Brown, second by Osborn, that the next regular meeting be held on <br />April 20, instead of 21st. <br />Carried, <br />Motion by Brown, second by Stabs, that the City Clerk be authorized to close <br />escrow account of Karpark Meter Compar~r, and apply to the account of Duncan <br />Parking Meter Compact. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Commissioner Dunham be authorized to <br />prepare and take bids on new tractor and mower. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, tyat Mrs. Golden be refunded $23.00 on <br />sewer line that City damaged. <br />Carried. <br />
