• • <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />LA PORTS CITY COMMISSION - MAY 5TH, 1961 <br />7:00 P. M. <br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P. <br />Pfeiffer, t~.th the following members present: Commissioners Brown, Osburn, <br />Stabs and Dunham, Attorney Pitman, Supt. Arthur, and City Clerk Frank G.Baker. <br />Also present were John Kiibler, Jr., Caxlos Smith, Joel Cook, Mr. Brwnmerhop, <br />Calvin Compton, and Jim Holley and Mrs. Brummerhop (Press). <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. <br />Carried, <br />Mayor Pfeiffer read a letter from Kiibler and Kiibler asking that the City <br />close South H Street, lying between Blocks 860 and 869, and Blocks 859 and <br />870. After discussion, motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Attorney Pitman <br />be authorized to draw an ordinance to close portions of H Street. <br />Carried, <br />Mr. Cook appeared before the Commission to discuss the closing of the Alley in <br />Block #1158. The Comm~.ssion asked Mr.Cook to take the letter frt~a Mr. W~ H, <br />Baugh and secure additional signatures on same. <br />Commissioners Dunham and Osburn discussed the health ordinance, and both were <br />authorised to work with Attorney Pitanan to reword the health ordinance for the <br />next meeting. <br />Motion by Stabs, second by Dunham, that Wilburn Reeves be employed as a tem- <br />porary Patrolman, at a salary of X300.00 per month. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Stabs, second by Brown, that Commissioner Stabs be authorized to <br />spend X148.00 to cover floor in Fire Station. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Brown, second by Dunham, that payment of X1,116.82 to L, H. Mc Key, <br />for paving on A Street, be ratified. <br />Carried. <br />Motion by Dunham, second by Osburn, that the City advertise for bids on used <br />dozier, on June 2~ 1961. <br />Carried. <br />The item of refund on the I. Leon Smith sewer Line was discussed. Commissioner <br />Osburn will contact Mr. Smith and report back to the Commission. <br />
