<br />LA PORTE CITY COi~IlKISSION - MARCH 2ND, 1962
<br />7:00 P, M,
<br />Regular meeting of the City Commission was called to order by Mayor H. P. Pfeiffer,
<br />with the following members present: Commissioners Brown, Dunham, Osborn and Stabs,
<br />Asstt. Supt. Dick Cunningham, City Attorney C. L, Pitman, and City Clerk Frank Baker.
<br />Also present were L, L, Bair, L, A. Derden, Brian R. Scales, Frank H. Newman,Jr.,
<br />W.W. Scherwitz, J. 0. Rollins and Carlos Smith,
<br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
<br />Carried.
<br />Mayor Pfeiffer asked that the bids on asphalt paving be opened. Bids received were
<br />as follows :
<br />Walter A.Smith X5,394.00
<br />Walter M, Mischer Co, 4,743.00
<br />West Construction Co. 4,464.00
<br />Bids on petroleum products needs for the year were opened and read as follows:
<br />
<br />Motion by Osborn, second by Stabs, that the petroleum bids be tabled for further
<br />study,
<br />Carried.
<br />Motion by Brown, second by Dunham, that the bid of West Construction Company of
<br />Houston, be accepted, and it is so awarded,
<br />Carried.
<br />Motion by Osborn, second by Dunham, that Estimate #l, from Couch Construction
<br />Company in the amount of $18,107.01, be approved.
<br />Carried.
<br />Motion by Osborn, second by Brown, that Mr. Brown be authorized to proceed to
<br />refund revenue bonds (several issues).

<br />The firm of Lockwood, Andrews and Newnan, Inc,, Consulting Engineers, were repre-
<br />sented by Mr. Frank Newnan, Jr. and W. W. Scherwitz, who presented their firm to
<br />the Commission for consideration in the future planning of the City.
