<br />• MINUTES <br />OF THE <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF THE LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 17, 1981 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Meza. <br />Members of the City Council Present: Mayor Meza, Council- <br />persons Norman L. Malone, John Longley, Gus Fairs, I. J. <br />Kibodeaux, Tom Simons, Deotis Gay, Don Skelton, Linda <br />Westergren <br />City Officials Present: City Manager James R. Hudgens, Assis- <br />tant City Attorney Gail Hamilton, City Secretary Betty T. Waters, <br />Public Works Director Jerry Hodge, Police Chief H. F. Freeman, <br />Fire Chief Joe Sease, Fire Marshal Paul Hickenbottom, Parks <br />and Recreation Director Stanley Sherwood. <br />There were 18 citizens present and representatives of the <br />Bayshore Sun and the Baytown Sun. <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson I. J. Kibodeaux. <br />3. Motion was made by Councilperson Longley to accept and approve <br />the minutes of the Joint Public Hearing and Regular Meeting <br />of the La Porte City Council held June 3, 1981. Seconded by <br />Counci person Kibodeaux. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 <br />nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren, Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />4. Motion was made by Councilperson Simons to delay accepting a <br />bid for Service Center furniture until such time as the staff <br />is ready to make a recommendation. Seconded by Councilperson <br />Skelton. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Malone, Longley, Faris, Kibodeaux, <br />Simons, Gay, Skelton, Westergren, Mayor Meza <br />Nays: None <br />5. Assistant City Attorney Hamilton read Ordinance No. 1265: <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION BY THE CITY OF LA PORTE <br />OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF TEXAS, DEPARTMENTS OF HIGH- <br />WAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION (DHPT) AND OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />(DPS), FOR LOCAL USE OF STATE-OWNED EQUIPMENT IN A CERTIFIED <br />• BREATH TEST PROGRAM. <br />
