Stabs, and Bobby J. <br />Burgin . <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMtiI/SS/ON ABSENT: None <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: City Attorency Knox W. Askins, City <br />Engineer H. Carlos Smith, and City Clerk Marilyn Kelley. <br />MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION PRESEPJT: Waiter Roberson, <br />and Jack Smith. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Pfeiffer. <br />t + + <br />The City Commission and the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />met in a joint session for a Public Hearing on the proposed <br />new Zoning Ordinance. <br />Mayor Pfeiffer stated that the combined Commissions have been <br />studying the proposed Ordinance for several years and have arrived <br />at what they feel is best for both the protection and development <br />of La Porte. <br />The following persons requested that their property be re-classified: <br />~. Frank R. Bo}ale, Jr. - representing the owners of Block <br />697, Town of La Porte- From R9 to Commercial. <br />2. Luther Casteel, Block 494, Town of La Porte - That <br />the entire block be one classification instead of <br />two. <br />3. Oliver Pennington, representing Chemtron Chemtcal <br />Company, requesting that the Richard Pearsall tract, <br />adjoining the Chemtron plant be Industrial instead <br />of R9. <br />4. Carrington Weems requesting that some of his property <br />be classified as Commercial and that some be unclassified. <br />(See Letter - Exhibit No. 9). <br />5. H. Carlos Smith objecting to duplexes being allowed <br />in R9 Classification. <br />6. Bryant, Rodriquez and Gonzales, requesting that the <br />area around South 94th, 95th and 96th Streets be R9 <br />instead of R2. <br />
