• • <br />MINUTES - REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE <br />LA FORTE CITY COMMISSION, LA FORTE, TEXAS <br />JULY 20, 1970 <br />7:00 P. M. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION PRESENT: Mayor H. Carlos Smith, <br />Commissioners E.A.Thomas, I. J. Kibodeaux and Bobby Burgin. <br />MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ABSENT: Commissioner H. G. Crofoot. <br />OTHER CITY OFFICIALS PRESENT: Virginia Cline, City Clerk; <br />Knox Askins, City Attorney; Robert Cline, Director of <br />Public Works; and H. F. Freeman., Chief of Police. <br />PRESIDING: Mayor Smith. <br />+ + + <br />Invocation was given by Commissioner Burgin. <br />1. Minutes of the regular meeting of July 6, 1970 <br />were approved as presented. <br />+ + + <br />2. Mrs. Emma Smith addressed the Commission in <br />regards to requirements necessary to close <br />twenty (20) feet of X Street and forty (40) <br />feet of Park Avenue in Block 1373, La Porte. <br />The Commission advised Mrs. Smith to obtain the <br />agreement of other property owners and to make <br />proper application for closing streets in <br />accordance with City Ordinance No. 733• <br />+ + + <br />3. Mayor Smith read correspondence from The Baha'is <br />of La Porte requesting the use of the Northside <br />Civic Center, free of charge, for sponsoring <br />classes for children on Sunday mornings. <br />r <br />
