MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />JUNE 26, 1995 <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Alton Porter <br />at 6:02 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Pro Tem. Alton Porter, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and Jerry Clarke <br />Members of Council Absent: Mayor Norman L. Malone <br />Members of City Staff and Employees Present: Assistant City <br />Manager John Joerns, Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, <br />City Secretary Sue Lenes, Finance Director/Assistant City <br />Manager Jeff Litchfield, Chief of Police Bobby Powell, <br />Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Assistant <br />Director of Public Works Buddy Jacobs, Director of Parks and <br />Recreation Stephen Barr, Director of Planning Guy Rankin, <br />Building Official Mark Lewis, La Porte Police Officers George <br />Young and David Hoffman <br />Others Present: Rev. Randy Gilchrist, representing the La <br />Porte Ministers Alliance, Betty Waters and Inge Browder <br />representing Planning & Zoning Commission and several La Porte <br />Citizens. <br />2. INVOCATION BY DR. WAYNE SPEARS - FAIRMONT PARR BAPTIST CHURCH <br />The invocation was given by the Pastor of the First Baptist <br />Church Rev. Randy Gilchrist, as Dr. Spears was unable to <br />attend the meeting tonight. <br />Councilperson Clarke addressed Council thanking Rev. Gilchrist <br />for the participation of the La Porte Alliance of Ministers. <br />He indicated it is a real inspiration for this Council and the <br />City of La Porte. <br />3. CONSIDER APPROVING MINUTES OF PUBLIC HEARING AND REGULAR <br />MEETING JUNE 12, 1995 <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Thrower to aubrove the <br />minutes of June 12, 1995. Second by Councilperson Clarke. <br />The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, <br />McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Pro Tem. <br />Porter <br />Nays: None <br />
