The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Delbert Walker, John Lloyd, Ed Matuszak, Betty <br />Waters, Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Linda <br />Westergren <br />Members of Citv Council Absent: None <br />Members of Citv Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Police <br />Chief Herb Freeman, Director of Parks and Recreation Stan <br />Sherwood, Chief Building Official David Paulissen, Director~of <br />• Public Works Jerry Hodge, Assistant Director of Public Works <br />Steve Gillett <br />Others Present: John Paul Zemanek, La Porte-Bayshore Chamber <br />of Commerce; Sammy Jacobs, La Porte police officer; James Gee, <br />Disabled American Veterans; Paul Felgner; Pam Smith, Bayshore <br />Sun; Allan Kimball, Houston Post; approximately 30 citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Skelton. <br />3. Public Hearing - Request of Glenn Tolar to rezone Block 10, <br />Lots 165-166, Spenwick Place, from Residential to Commercial <br />to accommodate development of a day care center <br />The Mayor called the public hearing to order. Mr. Glenn Tolar <br />was present and reviewed the request for Council. <br />Questions from Council were answered by Mr. Tolar. <br />Mayor Malone asked for those wishing to speak in favor of the <br />rezoning. He then read a letter from Russell French, which <br />asked questions regarding the rezoning. The Mayor then read a <br />memo from Chief Building Official David Paulissen with staff <br />recommendation regarding this location. <br />• <br /> <br />
