• • <br />MINUTES OF THE <br />REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 26, 1985 <br /> <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of Citv Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Delbert Walker, John Lloyd, Ed Matuszak, Betty <br />Waters, Lindsay Pfeiffer, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Linda <br />Westergren <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br />Members of Citv Staff Present: City Manager Jack Owen, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, Assistant City Secretary Gwen Vann, <br />Director of Community Development John Joerns, Director of <br />Public Works Jerry Hodge, Purchasing Agent Jackson Ray, <br />Administrative Assistant Olivia Moeller, Director of Parks and <br />Recreation Stan Sherwood <br />Others Present: Buford Leonard, VFW; Bill Metzger and Neil <br />Bishop, Turner Collie & Braden; Charles Hudgins and Pam Smith, <br />Bayshore Sun; 4 citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Gay. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the regular <br />Council meeting held August 12, 1985. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the <br />minutes of the Ay,gust 12, 198 meeting as presented. Second <br />by Councilperson Westergren. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 <br />nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Walker, Lloyd, Matuszak, Waters, <br />Pfeiffer, Gay, Skelton, Westergren and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4. Mr. Buford Leonard, representing the Veterans of Foreign Wars, <br />inquired about getting flag poles at the local cemeteries. <br />The Mayor stated that revenue sharing or tax monies cannot be <br />used to purchase items to be placed on private property, and <br />that is all he could tell him at this point. <br />
