• <br />INUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 25, 1991 <br />1. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman Malone, <br />Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Mike Cooper, Ed Matuszak, Bob <br />McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, B. Don Skelton, Jerry <br />Clarke <br />Members of City Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff Present: City Manager Bob Herrera, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Cherie Black, Assistant <br />City Manager John Joerns, Police Chief Bobby Powell, Finance <br />Director Jeff Litchfield, Director of Community Development <br />Joel Albrecht, City Engineer Bill Manning, Fire Department <br />Superintendent John Dunham <br />Others Present: Dexter Joyner; Brent Ryan; Guy Aldrich, Arkla <br />Exploration Co.; members of La Porte Independent School <br />District faculty and two students; 16 citizens <br />2. The invocation was given by Councilperson Porter. <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the regular <br />meeting held February 11, 1991. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Skelton to approve the <br />minutes of February 11 as presented. Second by Councilperson <br />Clarke. The motion carried, 9 ayes and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Matuszak, <br />McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Skelton, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />4. The Mayor proclaimed March as Youth Art Month and the week of <br />March 4-8 as Texas Public Schools Week. He also presented a <br />special proclamation to La Porte Junior High History Teacher <br />Bea Svambera for being selected outstanding Texas History <br />teacher for 199-91 by the James W. Brown chapter of the <br />Daughters of the Republic of Texas. <br />5. Mr. Spero Pomonis, 218 Bay Colony Drive, addressed Council in <br />opposition to hiring a delinquent tax attorney. <br />6. Council considered an ordinance amending Chapter 6 of the Code <br />of Ordinances of the City of La Porte, "Auto Wrecker and <br />Towing Vehicle." <br />
